And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Satan has known from the start he cannot overcome the church, the body of Christ. So What he has tried to do was bring in false doctrine. And has in fact created a false Christianity.
I hear a lot about Christian unity. It's okay if we disagree as long as we believe in Jesus Christ. Is this true?
I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
Legalism is one form of false doctrine, observance of mosiac law rather than following Christ, or even modern church by-laws, or strict observance of customs that are not in practice today. Tradition is another form of false doctrine. In a previous blog I talked about how Christianty was blended with traditions brought from pagan religions as well as family customs which are still in use today down to your corner church.
Important doctrines as the promise of the Holy Ghost, being reduced to receiving Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. Yes, Christ should be your Lord, but what was preached in the first century is not what is being preached in the church today. You will not find of the apostles ever saying this. Merely believing that Jesus Christ is the son of God will not get you into heaven.
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
This is actual doctrine of receiving Christ: You actually receive his Spirit. The Holy Ghost.
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.
This is the promise of salvation, of Jesus Christ actually dwelling in you. The true born again experience. Which Jesus said, we must be born again (John 3:3-5).
It is agrued that the Church has baptized using the trinitarian formula since the first century. But their is evidence that Baptism solely in the name of Jesus Christ has been done since before that, and the Holy scriptures back it up. The Catholic church was the church of Rome. And they killed, and murdered people that wouldn't accept the trinity. This both true and very well documented. There are novels written though fiction from Thecla a 2nd century presbyter in Asia minor who wrote that baptism was in the name of Jesus.
1 JOHN 2:19
They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
So I ask you, should Christianity unite, yes under a common banner of truth, if they cannot, then no. I am not talking about trivial issues, but about salvational issues. When I have told people I believe that baptism should be in the name of Jesus Christ. I get treated harshly by Christians, it's never good. They come against me in full force, yet this is completely biblical. This can be proven in scripture. Baptism in the trinity formula cannot. Christians that have their mind made up that their is indeed a trinity, say that you are denying the trinity. But I say, after having this knowledge of the truth, they are denying Christ.
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
I have been accused of causing division and by one leading people away from God. I was told by someone dear to me, why go to church if I am going to disagree with everything they say. Which is totally untrue. If you will read my blogs, I've only ever said, prove them. What does the bible say? The problem is there are far too many people listening to everything the preacher says and not reading what the bible says. We are stuck on what the church says rather than what the bible says. A good example is the pre-tribualation rapture theory, which is totally unbiblical. Yet the majority of Christians believe it today. Yet you cannot find one scripture to support it. Again I'm not saying there is no gathering of the saints. What I am saying is scripture does not support a pre-tribulation rapture. I myself am amazed that most Christians believe this false doctrine. There is actually biblical proof that this event takes place after the tribulation (Matthew 24:29-31) and most Christians even when seeing this, still don't believe. This is how engrained lies can be be. The scriptures they use to try and prove this theory, when examined further actually disprove a pre-tribulation rapture. As do the scriptures that say one can merely believe and be saved (John 7:37-39). I'm not saying salvation is difficult. It is a free gift. We've just been blinded by the lies for so long that we have come to believe false doctrine. The bibles idea of salvation included repentence, baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the infilling of the Holy Spirit evidenced by the speaking of other tongues. This can be biblically proven, yet most Christians will argue salvation with you. One doesn't look into scripture how that when one believed they were immediatly baptized (Acts 2:41, 8:35-38, 10:43-48, 16:31-33, 19:1-6, 22:13-16). A good preacher is going to tell you to look up the scriptures for yourself, a bad one is going to tell you that you'll not be able to understand it, or give you some mystical meaning behind what it says. I say take the bible at face value, what it says is what it means. The truth is division is caused when we don't agree. If you read 2 Corinthians, Paul is trying to point them back to the truth, he is not saying it's okay that we believe different things. As far as speaking in tongues goes, there is a difference between the simple tongue one gets when they receive the Spirit of Christ and the gift of tongues and interpretations. When a tongue is given for an interpretation it is done clear and distinct. When one receives the Spirit it is not clear and distinct, rather fast and just a sign, a symbol that the person was baptized with fire (Matthew 3:11) with the Holy Ghost. (Isaiah 28:11, 1 Corinthians 14:22, Acts 10:44-46, 19:6)
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
II Timothy 4:1-5
I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
II THESSALONIANS 2:11-12
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
II CORINTHIANS 4:1-6
Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ
